2010 College Beach (Sand) Volleyball Championship

Today we had a national champion crowned in our favorite sport here at the FratHouse, Beach Volleyball. The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), AVP, and CBS College Sports Network all teamed up to put on the College Beach Volleyball Championship as part of the AVP Santa Barbara Open this weekend.

In all 12 two player teams competed in this years championship that began with a round robin tournament used to determine seeding in a double-elimination round that ended in crowning of a new college beach volleyball national champion.

Yesterday began with 12 schools competing for the championship, this morning only 4 remained: LMU, Webber International, Delaware, and Hawaii. In today’s semifinals it was LMU defeating Webber (21-9, 21-8) and Delaware beating Hawaii (21-14, 21-18) to set up an LMU vs Delaware final. And the winner and the 2010 Beach Volleyball National Champion defeating their opponent 21-16 in the 1st set and 21-19 in the 2nd was…LMU!
