Men’s Lacrosse 1st Round Recap

In what may have been the biggest upset in Men’s Lacrosse Tournament history the #2 seeded two time defending national championship Syracuse team were stunned at home in a 9-8 double OT first round loss to an Army team that was 11-5 on the year.
Army’s Devin Lynch scored with 5.7 seconds left to send the Orangeman, who had only lost one game all year and that was to top ranked Virginia, home packing real early. Army will now play the seven seeded Cornell Big Red in the second round.
The other 2nd round matchups: (1) Virginia vs (8) Stony Brook, (4) North Carolina vs (5) Duke, and (3) Maryland vs a Notre Dame team that scored the other upset in the first round by defeating (6) Princeton. The second round begins next weekend.
