Comparing The Polls: Week One

The major news in this weeks rankings is that after theĀ 40-27 victory against Oregon, LSU jumped up Alabama to claim the number two spot in the rankings… while the Tide fell to number three in the AP Poll, but not in the USA Today (luckily we’ll get to see who is really when the LSU and Alabama play on November 5th).
But that’s not all that’s not all that’s wrong with this weeks USA Today… for some reason they still have Auburn ranked in the top 25, at #22 after they barely beat Utah State 42-38 at home. The AP meanwhile dropped them out of the rankings, like were supposed to… so this week the AP Poll wins.

And here’s a fun fact for you: the Tigers became just the second defending national champions since the preseason poll started in 1950 to fall out of the rankings after the first week of the season in the first regular-season poll.
