Bruce Pearl Gets Offered D-Leauge Job
Bruce Pearl is one step closer to becoming the head coach of the Texas Legends of the NDBL. Yesterday it was announced that the second year franchise had offered Pearl a contract valued at more than $500,000, which would make him the highest paid coach in D-League history (the average NDBL coaches’ salary is $80,000).
But even though Texas has offered Pearl a very generous offer, I doubt he’ll be taking it. After all it is the D-League and he can more than that as an ESPN College Basketball Analyst.
Bruce Pearl: “For me, my life has been basketball. I mean basketball has been very, very good to me. I worked my whole life to get to a place like Tennessee, but I think coaching is in my blood, it’s what I want to do. Now, the opportunity to coach in the NBA and become part of that fraternity is appealing to me. I’m not going to look back or look forward. If this is the direction that we’re going to go in, we’ll do a great job with it, but we won’t be closing the doors to the other things as it relates to the game of basketball.”
