Notre Dame Gets Off Easy For The Death Of Declan Sullivan

There’s no doubt about… the University of Notre Dame, their coaching staff, and all their school officials are the reason that 21 year old videographer Declan Sullivan. Yet here we are a few months later and justice has still not been served. And its not just that that’s pissing me off… what’s pissing me of is that Notre Dame is actually fighting the charges.

The Indiana Occupational Health & Safety Administration was originally fined $77,500 after been found guilty of committing six violations that led to the death of Sullivan and now that has been reduced to just $42,000… in addition they received a reduction in monetary responsibility (it was reduced from a “knowing” violation to a “serious” violation).

The only good news that comes from all of this is that the school will be forced to to make a “substantial contribution” to a memorial for Sullivan. But what about the families pain and suffering… don’t they deserve some compensation?

I hope the Sullivan’s sue the school in civil court or some because if they leave things as they stand now Notre Dame will be getting away with murder with nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
