Maryland’s New Uniforms Get A Promo Video

By now to have to have heard and seen all about the football uniforms Maryland was wearing last night Miami, but ow there’s just not pictures out there of the uni’s… there’s this video, which shows the jerseys in all their hideousness.

Another Wake Forest Baller Leaves The Program

It’s been a tough first 18 months on the job for Wake Forest head basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik… so far four plater have left the program for a variety of reasons. Tony Woods was kicked off the team last April for beating his girlfriend, then Ari Stewart decided to transfer to USC, then Melvin Tabb was booted after being arrested on breaking and entering and fraud charges, and then Ty Walker will be suspended until December 10th for violating the schools student code of conduct.

And now today comes word that JT Terrell, the team’s second-leading scorer as a freshman last season, is resigning from the basketball team after being arrested for driving while impaired… after police found him passed out behind the wheel of his car with the engine running early Saturday morning. Don’t look now, but it’s looking like the Deamon Deacons have another losing season coming up. [via]

Virginia Tech Getting A Girl Kicker

This could make for a very interesting story come next season. Lauren Luttrell a freshman at Virginia Tech tried out for the football team the other day as a kicker and word is head coach Frank Beamer liked what he saw… so much so that he invited her to next years spring practice.

And this chick is no slouch either… as a senior in high school last year, she kicked 10 extra points and a 31-yard field goal for Spotsylvania. Not bad and I’m talking about her look.

A few more pics of Lauren below…

The Miami Eight Suspended

By now you had to have heard that the NCAA has suspended eight players for varying amounts of games depending on what they were to have accepted from booster Ned Shapario (QB Jacory Harris, WR Travis Benjamin, DT Marcus Forston, DE Adewale Ojomo, and LB Sean Spence must all serve a one game suspension and repay their benefits… while TE Dyron Dye and S Ray-Ray Armstrong must serve a four game suspension… and lastly DE Olivier Vernon must miss six games of competition).

But wait there’s more…. two more players (Brandon McGee and Micanor Regis) who wren’t even mentioned in the Yahoo!Sports report will be required to make up “minor benefits” they received from Shapiro, but won’t be suspended. Damn!

Details of the benefits players received below…

The Odds Miami Will Receive The Death Penalty

Just to prove that you really can vote on everything in Vegas, here goes the odds that Miami will receive the “death penalty”. I’m betting they won’t, but the public has spoken and according to the dudes over at Bodog Sportsbook have the odds at -130 for ‘yes’ that the Hurricanes will receive the ‘death penalty’ and a ‘no’ wager is -110.

But that’s not all. They’re also taking bets on whether Al Golden will be coaching the Hurricanes next season, how many years of probation they will receive, and the number of players that will be suspended… and we’ve got those odds for you below.

The Football Players Miami Has Ruled Ineligible

Depending who you listen to right now Miami has ruled anywhere from 8-13 football players ineligible (the Miami Herland says 8the AP says 13). But the most important thing is that word is “starting” QB Jacory Harris is one of those few.

And all those ineligible are so because for accepting gifts from Shapiro valued at over $100… but the good news is that history has shown us that a player who receives benefits lower than $100 will be asked to pay it back in the form of a donation to a charity and then reinstated immediately.

Duke Pays $1 Million For Summer Ball Charter Flights

I hear it’s great to be Florida Gator, but apparently it’s also great to be a Duke Blue Devil basketball player. This month the Dukies are on a 13-day tour of China and Dubai and the school has spared no expense… they’ve chartered a Boeing-767 jet to shuttle players, staff and dozens of alumni between Durham, Beijing, Shanghai and Dubai and it only cost them measly $1.3 million to do so.
