I was thinking that when Izzo dismissed senior to be Chris Allen from the team last week he’d pack it up and head either to the D League or overseas to continue playing ball. Boy was I wrong. As it turns out Allen is looking to continue his college basketball career.

Yesterday he visited Iowa State and is also considering South Florida, Baylor and a handful of other schools on his short list of colleges that he would like to transfer to.

This has been a strange week for college basketball. First Coach Cal kicks Darnell Dodson off the team yesterday for reasons unknown and now today comes word from Tom Izzo that he’s giving the boot to senior to be Chris Allen. In a statement to the media Izzo said, “There were multiple obligations that Chris had to meet in order to return for his senior season….he has failed to meet all the obligations.” Damn that’s harsh…don’t these coaches know we’re in the middle of summer? Can a brother get a break!?

Before the Big 10 Tourney started Michigan State’s Coach Izzo caught everyone, even the players, by surprise when he announced that he’d be suspending starting guard Chris Allen indefinitely. The only reason given…some BS about violating unspecified team rules and something “about being a better teammate”. So what was the suspension about?
