Players Rob Man After Knocking Him Out

We’ve got our first two arrest of the month in a two for one strong armed robbery special. The story goes Syracuse quarterback Jonathan Miller and Colorado guard Bryce Givens were arrested early Wednesday morning in Boulder, Colorado… after punching and robbing a man.

Weekend Arrest Roundup

Since you’ve probably already heard about the Oklahoma football duo that was arrested, we’ll start with the Colorado trio. According to the police report three Colorado football players got denied entry to a guy named Jimmy Do’s apartment party in Denver at around 3:00 am on Saturday…then obviously pissed off (and most likely faded):

“…as they left the building, they kicked and punched the elevator, possibly breaking the lights and causing the elevator to malfunction…then entered the parking garage…and kicked Do’s 2007 BMW…and two more vehicles before exiting the garage.”

CU Footballer’s $100,000 Sexual Assault

Chivalry in sports in sports in dead…this has to be like the umpteenth sexual assault that we’re reporting on. This one involves CU Buffalloes linebacker Michael Sipili who is accused of attacking a girl way back on December 4. We don’t have any police report or that many details (what we have is below), but it must have been something serious because they set his bail at $100,000…some murders that get bail for less than that.

GTFO: Colorado Coach Dan Hawkins

Damn. They said they were going to keep Dan until the end of the season, which was true if the end of the season was today. Colorado has finally decided to fire football head coach Dan Hawkins after leading the school to four straight losing seasons, a 19-39 overall record and a 10-27 mark in the Big 12, and five straight losses this season. But hey on the bright side at least Hawkins will go down as one of the worst DI hires of all-time and the first coach in Colorado’s 121 years of existence to be fired during the season.

But the last straw, the 52-45 loss to Kansas on Saturday where the team blew a 28 point lead in the final 12 minutes. How…well Dan was passing the ball instead of running it so his son Cody, who just so happens to be the teams starting QB, could break some school records. But hey at least Dan will get to step onto the field one more time on November 20th for senior day (that won’t be awkward). Anybody want to bet ex-Texas Tech coach Mike Leach’s name will come up as a possible replacement?

Dead Man Walking: Dan Hawkins

How are you going to blow a 28 point lead to Kansas! Kansas! And not just a 28 point lead, but a 28 point lead in the fourth quarter, while giving up 35 unanswered points in the process. That’s not just bad, that’s Michael Jackson bad. So yes, Colorado is our losers of the week and so big of losers that we aren’t even going to mention Texas’s 39-14 thumping from KState.

But surprisingly as bad as Colorado was they will not be firing head coach Dan Hawkins this week as i predicted…instead we have it on good authority that he’ll get to finish out the season before he gets the axe and he has his son to thank.

GTFO: Coaches On The Hot Seat

There’s only few games left in the season, which means athletic directors are going to start handing out pink slips to some of these sorry ass coaches that have no chance at making a bowl game. We’ve already seen one coach get his ass fired this season (Minnesota’s Tim Brewster) and I’m willing to bet he won’t be the last…here’s a list of head coaches that might soon be joining Brewster in the unemployment line.

Dan Hawkins – Colorado: If there were one coach that I would bet wouldn’t make it to the end of the season it would Hawkins. He’s been at Colorado for five years and has a 19-38 overall record…and worst of all he has never led the Buffaloes to bowl game. And with Colorado joining the Pac 12 next year it’s time for a fresh start for the program. I’m predicting that if CU loses to Kansas this weekend, which would drop the team to 3-6 on the season and be their 5th straight loss, Hawkins will be given the boot next week.

Rich Rodriguez – Michigan: Everybody is saying that RichRod is on the hot seat, but I beg to differ. I think that administration will give him a pass this year. Why well because…

How Much The Big 12 Is Charging Colorado And Nebraska To Leave

Okay so we know Colorado and Nebraska will both be leaving the Big 12 at the end of this year and joining the Pac 12 and Big 10 respectively. But do you know how much it’s costing each of them to leave…more than you’ll make in 10 lifetimes.

Colorado has to give up $7 million, while Nebraska is shelling out $9 milli. An amount that’s chump change for Nebraska, who were ranked the 4th most valuable college football program by Forbes last year worth $92 million with $49 million a year in revenues.

Colorado on the other hand can’t fork over that kind of dough, so they’ll have to get a loan from the Pac 10 “which will be paid back with future earnings from the Pac-12′s upcoming TV negotiations and the school’s expected future ticket revenue and booster donations”.
