61 Year Becomes The Oldest College Football Player Ever

Move over that hot chick that might kick for Virginia Tech next season… we’ve got another person that deserves to shine way more than her. At the young age of 61, Alan Moore will be kicking this fall for Faulkner University, a small Christian school in Montgomery, Alabama… over 43 years after his college career was cut short by the Vietnam War. Somebody get this man a medal.

What We Learned Last Night

Russell Wilson Is The Trust: Wisconsin is my new favorite to win the Big 10.Russell was looking like the reincarnation of Cam Newton out there last night. Granted it was against UNLV, who is hardly the kind of competition he’ll be seeing in league play, but he was rather impressive… passing for 10-13 for 255 yards, 2 TDs and no INTs, while rushing 62 yards and 1TD.

Kentucky Sucks: Don’t let the final score of 14-3 fool you… Kentucky was horrible against Western Kentucky. They had under 100 yards both rushing and passing. Their starting QB threw 3 INTs and just 1 TD. They were minus ten in time of possession. And worst of all they had more penalties (17) and punts (15) as points. Yeah its going to be a long year in the SEC.

Surprise Football Suspensions

Tisk, tisk, tisk. With all the drama going on in college football, Mississippi State is over here trying to pull a fast one on us. Out the blue earlier today, we started hearing rumors that the Bulldogs would be suspending 10 players for tonight opening game versus Memphis… well as it turns out only five have been suspended, including Brett Favre’s newphew QB Dylan Favre, for the ol’ violation of team rules bs.

But that’s not all. Ohio State is also suspending three players for their opener against Akron… running back Jordan Hall and defensive backs Corey Brown and Travis Howard have been suspended for receiving impermissible benefits of $300 or less at a charity event earlier this year. When are these Buckeyes going to learn?

The Big Ten Unveils Its Championship Trophy

The Big Ten has become a joke. Their conference names are wack. The Iowa/Iowa State trophy was so bad they scrapped it in less than a week. But today they’ve finally done something right. Above is the first picture of the new trophy that will be given out to the winner of this years first annual (in recent memory) Big Ten Football Championship Game. It kinda looks like the Super Bowl Trophy, but slicker. [via]

Will Lyles Meets With The NCAA Again

This couldn’t be good news for the Oregon faithful. Yahoo!Sports columnist Dan Wetzel spoke with Will Lyles today on podcast during which time Lyles said that he was going to be speaking to the NCAA for the second time… with the first time being in May.

A second time?! So obviously the NCAA smells smoke… so there’s bound to be a fire somewhere over there in Oregon. And the more time that passes, the more likely it is that Will Lyles will be to Oregon what Ned Shapario is to Miami. [via]
