Assholes Award: Keno Davis And Providence

This is a gotdamn shame. All Joseph Young wanted to do was transfer schools to play for his dad. Only problem was he’d already signed with Providence. Now usually a big time school like Duke, Carolina, Kentucky…they wouldn’t stress over losing a recruit, they’d just grant his release and give his scholarship to another McDonald’s All-American. But not Providence. Not only do they suck, they’re a bunch of assholes.

Instead of granting Young a release from his letter of intent, they held him hostage…daring him to transfer to another school. Now usually one side eventually caves…either the school grants the kid a release in the final hour or the kid, not wanting to sit out a year, reluctantly agrees to play for the school. Well that wasn’t the case here.

Providence BBall: Free Joseph Young

Keno Davis is a bitch. He’s been holding his top recruit Joseph Young hostage for months, not letting him back out of his commitment to the school. So what if he wants to go to Houston University now because his dad is the director of operations there and not because his sick aunt is on her death bed like he says…it’s just not right for Providence Coach Keno Davis to force him to go to school there when he doesn’t want to.

Keno Davis is hurting the program and giving the school a bad name. Now every time someone thinks of Providence, it’s o yeah that one school that wouldn’t let one of their recruits leave. USC let Seantrel out of his LOI without any problem and he was the #1 football recruit in the nation. DePaul just let one of their basketball recruits out of his.

So why can’t Providence? Maybe because they’re some bitches.

Joseph Young NLI Drama With Providence

Here goes yet another instance of a school being assholes and not letting player out of their national intent. This one is not as bad as the one we told you about earlier this week: where Depaul recruit asked Walter Pitchford asked to be released because they fired the coach he originally signed the commitment with, but it’s along the same lines.

Today’s case involves Joseph Young, a 6-2 shooting guard from Houston and Providence College. Joseph Young wants out of his contract at Providence so he can go to a school closer to Houston because his aunt has developed a serious heart problem. Providence Coach Keno Davis won’t let him. So now there is a standoff.
