2010 SEC Coaches Sand (Beach) Volleyball Championship

This year 6 schools from the SEC competed in the 3rd annual SEC Coaches Beach Volleyball Championship. Teams from Florida, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina all competed to see which school would be crowned SEC Beach Champion.

In the end, LSU, the team that ended Florida’s 18-year stranglehold on the indoor championship by capturing the SEC title in November, narrowly defeated the Gators to sweep the indoor and (unofficial) beach championships for 2009-2010.

In individual SEC Coaches competition, the top division featured an all Florida Gator final, with Kelly Murphy and Kristy Jaeckel defeating Callie Rivers and Lauren Bledsoe.

Softball: Pac-10 Play Begins

Series of the Weekend: With the Pac10 starting play this past weekend you would think that our series of the weekend would come from there, but instead we’re going to travel down to the SEC to recap the #12 Florida Gators vs #13 LSU Tigers series.

LSU was coming in hot on a 24 game winning streak and unbeaten in SEC play, but Florida cooled them off sweeping them in the 3 game series 4-1, 2-1, and 7-1 thanks to some nice pitching by freshman Ensley Gammel and some clutch hitting by Aja Paculba who extended her hit streak to 11 games with 4 over the weekend.

Most Surprising Series: #4 ranked Missouri Tigers got swept in a two game series over the weekend by the 15th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys 8-3 and 1-0.

GTFO: LSU Might Get A Brewery On Campus

We’re not talking about a little bar on campus. We’re talking a whole entire gotdamn motherf-king brewery! Capable of producing gallons and gallons of beer…on campus!

The chancellor at LSU recently unveiled a proposal to build a microbrewery on campus. The facility would serve as a laboratory for food science students and a training center for aspiring brewmasters…the chancellor believes a LSU-branded brew could contribute significantly to the school’s marketing and generate revenue for its programs.

If they get this passed through the board by some miracle then the day after they do I will be transferring  to LSU to finish my schooling. A school with it’s own beer…it’s like going to heaven and finding out it’s full of good looking girls and they’re all naked.

LSU Football Broke The Rules

It’s not many times where the school comes out and admits to breaking the rules, but that is exactly what LSU did. In a 53-page report that LSU submitted to the NCAA yesterday, after doing their own investigations they admitted to: providing JUCO transfer Akiem Hicks with a reduced-rent apartment for 3 months last summer, improperly transporting him to LSU and making impermissible telephone calls to Hicks during the recruiting period.

The NCAA will review the findings and decide what to do. And LSU fans if you’re looking for someone to blame, that person would be Assistant Coach D.J. McCarthy who committed and the violations. But luckily because LSU officials thought rules were broken, they didn’t let Hicks to play…which means whatever the punishment LSU gets it won’t involve forfeiting any games. But it does make you wonder, if they’re doing that for an average JUCO transfer then what are they doing for a five star recruit?

LSU WR Toliver Apologizes For Getting Tased

Yesterday Toliver held a press conference to apologize for taking part in a bar fight and worst of all getting tased by the cops for not stopping once they got on the scene.

The bad news that comes out of all of this is that during the fight Toliver broke a bone in his left hand on someone’s face. The good news is Tigers coach Les Miles said that Toliver would not miss Spring or Summer practice and he would not be suspending him, but rather will make him “pay a tremendous price”.

Hopefully it doesn’t involve putting him in a shed. Read Tolivers apology below.
