NFLPA Says Long Live Pimping

That dream was short lived. Last week I was real excited at the thought of the NCAA and NFL working together to possibly start punishing players in the NFL for violations they committed in college…well this week the NFLPA basically said “Fck No!” to that idea.

The statement released today: “The NFLPA is opposed to any penalty being imposed upon a player in the NFL for conduct relating to the receipt of benefits in violation of NCAA rules while the player was in college. However…”. And they go on to talk about how they’re still going to work with the NCAA to stop agents from pimping players and blah, blah, blah.

Bottom line is without the fear of being penalized in the NFL, college players are going to continue to accept cash, jewelry, hotels, cars, flights, houses, whatever. Just look at UNC’s Marvin Austin right now…does it look like he’s sorry for accepting extra benifits or worried about what’s going to happen to him. Hell no, he’s partying with Rick Ross.

Marvin Austin Meets His Idol Rick Ross

For any of the coaches and/or players that are currently apart of the UNC football team it must suck to know that while you’re out there struggling to keep the program from sinking amidst two NCAA investigations that has already led to one coach resigning and over 20 suspensions, the man responsible for all your misfortune (Marvin Austin) is out having the time of his life. The proof…here goes a picture of Austin (in the green Adidas jacket) on stage at a recent Rick Ross concert with just as much ice on as him having a ball.

Which is really quite funny (or sad depending on who you are) when you think about it because if you remember it was Marvin Austin’s tweeting of this line from Rick Ross’s song “Sweet Life“, ”I live in club LIV so I get the tenant rate / Bottles comin’ like it’s a giveaway“, that really started the NCAA’s investigation of the UNC football program.

UNC Banishes Three Football Players For Accepting A Lot Of Bling

The Marvin Austin saga is finally over. Today UNC announced that, DT Marvin Austin has been dismissed, while WR Greg Little and DL Robert Quinn have been ruled permanently ineligible. But that’s not new news, we figured it was only a matter of time before these players where dismissed, what’s shocking is what they were dismissed for accepting.

Little was found to have received $4,952 in impermissible benefits, including diamond earrings, as well as travel accommodations for the Bahamas, Washington DC and two trips to Miami, among other benefits. While Quinn accepted $5.642 in gifts including two black diamond watches, a pair of matching earrings and travel accommodations for a trip to Miami, among other benefits. Shit with all that ice they were begging to get caught (and it’s hard to believe the coaches didn’t notice all that new bling).

Details on what Marvin Austin accepted below…

Proof UNC’s Football Program Is Dirty

So Yahoo!Sports has just cracked the investigation into the UNC Football Program wide open. They’ve got hotel recipes. Bank statements. Interviews. And it all proves that former UNC assistant football coach John Blake, who resigned earlier this month, is dirty. UNC player Marvin Austin is dirty. And at the center of everything is NFL agent and owner of sports agency Pro Tect Management, Gary Wichard.

It seems that UNC assistant coach John Blake was getting paid by agent Gary Wichard on the side, presumably to steer players to his agency and convince them sign with his Pro Tech Management company. Over the past three years Wichard sent Blake 6 wire transfers of undisclosed amounts, gave him a $45,000 loan, and company credit card.

But Coach John Blake isn’t the only one that got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, there is also proof Tar Heel defensive end Marvin Austin was taking money and gifts too.

UNC’s Marvin Austin In Deep Shit

UNC football player Marvin Austin is headed to the big house and I ain’t talking about to play Michigan. ESPN is reporting that he was spotted this morning at the North Carolina Secretary of State’s office where he was testifying about his relationships with various agents and specifically as to whether or not they gave him any extra benefits.

Now this is serious business. The state government isn’t the NCAA who can only hand out suspensions and fines, if he lies to the State’s office he could end up like Rodger Clemens and facing jail time for perjury. And Austin isn’t the only Tar Heel being called to the stand…former North Carolina defensive line coach John Blake has also been subpoenaed by the Secretary of State’s office and may testify as early as next week.

So what is to come of all this?

Marvin Austin’s Facebook Message

Marvin Austin, the UNC payer who is at the center of the NCAA Investigation, has finally spoken out on the charges against him on where else but Facebook. He posted this message on his Facebook Wall last night questioning whether he should have come back to school for his senior year. Sidenote: why Austin’s nickname is Anchorman here.

“I came back to school to have my character questioned..wtf..i thought education was key.. I dont really understand…i though it was the right thing to do..maybe i was mistaken…i like to say thanx to all those who stand by me i really appriecate it. oh yea and to those who wanna see me fall i wont cause i dont great athletes stay on their feet!!!!!”

Why The UNC Football Program Is Doomed

I have mentioned on here before that when there’s is smoke then there’s a fire. Well the NCAA smelled smoke over at Chapel Hill, went over to check things out, opened the door, and now all of sudden it’s backdraft in this motherfucker. The coaching staff is under fire, the players are under fire, and everybody is getting roasted like some chestnuts.

You’ve got an assistant coach suspected of funneling players to his agent buddy. A head coach who hired a tutor for his son that just so happened to be writing papers for at least nine of his players. And then a handful of players are caught up in an academic scandal and an illegal benefits scandal stemming from a memorial day weekend South Beach trip.

Yes people, the shit has officially hit the fan and now it’s landing on everybody. CBS is reporting that two players have already been kicked off the team. Nine starters where moved to the scout team yesterday. And the worst part of all…the probe into the academic scandal by the school is supposed to “extend beyond the start of the season“. Meaning players are going to be suspended indefinitely. Of those who’ll be suspended: defensive players Marvin Austin, Robert Quinn and Bruce Carter…plus up to eight more starters.

Really in all honestly you shouldn’t expect to see any of the players fingered in the academic scandal or the South Beach trip suit u for the Tar Heels this year. Even after UNC wraps up its internal probe of the paper writing tutor, it then has to pass along all the info they’ve gathered to the NCAA, who’ll then start their own investigation…and we all know how long they take. It could take weeks, months, a year? Nobody really knows.
