(5) Michigan State 85 – (4) Maryland 83: If you didn’t watch this one you missed out on an Instant Classic. Down 7 with under 2 minutes to go Greivis Vasquez not only leads Maryland all the back they take the lead with under 7 seconds to go. And then well I’m sure you’ve heard and seen what happens to Maryland next…buzzer beater.

(12) Cornell 87 – (4) Wisconsin 69: There’s like 2 all white teams still in the tournament, Northern Iowa and Cornell (Cornell is the better of the 2). Still Wisconsin should have won this one and they would have had it not been for this kid Tim Jarmusz, who only contributed 1 foul in 17 minutes in the loss. On a team full of losers, he’s the biggest one.

MidWest Region: David vs Goliath

This is the toughest region in the tournament and you’ve got two kinds of teams in it…there’s good ones and then there’s bad ones, and for the bad teams the first round is going to get ugly. We looked and looked for a possible upset, but just couldn’t find one.

Houston, who snuck in the tourney by the hairs on their chinny chin chin with a win over heavily favored UTEP in the C-USA Final is a David, but them pulling off a win against Maryland…we don’t think so. In this matchup David is going to get crushed by Goliath.

The Students Riot At Maryland

Last night you would have thought that Maryland had just won the national championship the way the students were partying last night.

It all started with the storming of the court after beating the #4 ranked Duke Bluedevils (1 reason to party), on senior night (2 reasons to party), for the first time since 2007 (3 reasons). And to top it off, the win puts the Terps in a first place atop the the ACC…that’s reason #4, when like going to Vegas you don’t even need half of one to party.
