NCAA Screws College Basketball Hardcore

Earlier this week we posted on how the NCAA and NBA were simultaneously screwing college basketball players with some bs new rules….well we’re back because we just found out that the NCAA is trying to screw players even harder.

Andy Katz is reporting that an NCAA committee is proposing to move the deadline for players to pull out of NBA Draft to April 10 next year, which means players will longer be able to not hire an agent and “test the draft waters” because prospects can’t officially enter the NBA Draft until after the NCAA Tournament (the last week of April). Screwed!

2011 NBA Draft Early Entrant List

It’s that time of year again. Time for the college basketballs version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, but there’s only one question…to enter the NBA Draft or not to enter. Players have until April 24th declare and if they don’t hire an agent until May 8th to pull out.

So far 30 underclassmen have declared for the draft, but expect that number to go number to go way up because last year a record 82 declared. We’ll be posting the Early Entrant List on a sidebar tomorrow, but for now check below to see the list as of today.

An NBA Lockout Would Be Good For College Basketball

Just about everyone who’s been asked about the possibility of an NBA Lockout this summer, from Carmelo Anthony to the Executive Director of the NBA Players Association Billy Hunter, has said there is going to be a lockout. And while no college player will admit it, the looming lockout is affecting whether some underclassmen declare for the NBA Draft this year or not. Because what good does it do to come out of college early if you’re not going to get your first NBA check until who knows when?

Quotes from college players and coaches about the NBA Lockout below…

Is Jimmer Fredette League?

By now everyone in the country knows who Jimmer Frefette is…the best player in the NCAA. He’s averaging 27.6 points (leads the nation), 3.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assist a game this season and has not only got BYU ranked in the top 10 for the first time in forever, but has also gotten people everywhere excited to watch Cougar games.

And while there’s no one who can doubt Jimmer greatness as a college basketball player, people have already began to wonder how good of a pro he’ll be and more specifically will he flop up like every other white American that makes it to the NBA. Case in point: JJ Redick aka the last great white American hope…he averaged 27 points per game in his senior year at Duke, but has yet to average over 8 points in the NBA.

Where Jimmer is projected to go in the 2011 NBA Draft…

The Undrafted College Players Who Made NBA Rosters This Season

With the start of the NBA season less than a week away, I found myself wondering if any of the college guys who I thought were for sure going to get drafted, but weren’t had made an NBA team…guys like Scottie Reynolds, Jon Scheyer, and Sherron Collins.

I know there is a couple of rookies who luck up every year and make it to the NBA after not getting drafted, but even I was surprised to find out that the Phoenix Suns gave an NBA contract to some 6’4 190 pound white kid from Northeastern that no ones ever heard.

Proposed Change To The NBA Draft Blows

Someone needs to fire this new NCAA president Mark Emmert ASAP. He hasn’t even taken office yet and he’s already talking about trying to change the NBA Draft to make it more like baseball’s…where kids can turn pro right out of high school, but if they go to college they have to stay for three years or until they’re 21. WTF kind of rule is that?!

The 2010 NBA Drafts Early Entry FAILS

This year a record number of underclassmen entered the draft, I think around 74 or something ridiculous, (we’ll got the list still up on our sidebar) and while the draft did have a record number of underclassmen drafted there was also a record number of underclassman who didn’t. Out of the 60 players picked in the draft 35 of them were underclassmen, 24 were taken in the first round and 11 in the second. Which means over half of the underclassmen that declared didn’t get drafted.

Below an overview of the most notable underclassmen not drafted…
