Jim Tressel Had Compliance Issues In The Past

So now it all comes out. Here we thought this thing with Jim Tressel not following the rules was a new thing… not! As it turns out in 2005-06 he was given the rating of “unacceptable” when it came to self-reporting rules violations in a timely manner.

But wait there’s more… he was issued a letter of reprimand less than six months into his tenure for giving a Buckeyes jersey to a recruit, a violation of NCAA bylaws and warned that he and his staff needed to do a better job of monitoring the cars the Buckeyes players were driving. Smh! [via]

Man An Ohio State Fan Even In Death

This has to the most legendary sports picture, college or professional, ever taken! I wonder if he requested this before his death? The only thing that could have made this more legendary is if they would have buried him in a Tressel Ohio State vest.

The Sanctions Ohio State Is Self Imposing

We’re going to try to keep this as simple and easy to read as we can because we know everybody and their momma is going to posting about this today. Ohio State is self imposing the following sactions:

  • Vacate all wins during the 2010 football season, including the 2011 Allstate Sugar Bowl;
  • Vacate the 2010 Big Ten Conference Football Championship
  • Imposed a two-year probationary period effective July 8, 2011
  • Suspend four players for the first five games of the season and another for one

So now that OSU has fired Tressel and self imposed these sanctions the question now becomes… will this be enough to satisfy the NCAA or tack onto the punishment once the two sides meet on August 12? And the answer to that is easy… hell no! Ohio State took it easy on themselves with these sanctions… no bowl ban, no reduction of scholarships?!
