Surprise Football Suspensions

Tisk, tisk, tisk. With all the drama going on in college football, Mississippi State is over here trying to pull a fast one on us. Out the blue earlier today, we started hearing rumors that the Bulldogs would be suspending 10 players for tonight opening game versus Memphis… well as it turns out only five have been suspended, including Brett Favre’s newphew QB Dylan Favre, for the ol’ violation of team rules bs.

But that’s not all. Ohio State is also suspending three players for their opener against Akron… running back Jordan Hall and defensive backs Corey Brown and Travis Howard have been suspended for receiving impermissible benefits of $300 or less at a charity event earlier this year. When are these Buckeyes going to learn?

TMZ Appearance Earns USC RB A Suspension

We told you a couple of days ago USC Football coaches weren’t going to be too happy with running back Marc Tyler’s drunken rant outside a club in Hollywood appearing on TMZ last week… and their not. Head Coach Lane Kiffin has suspended Tyler for the September 3rd season opener against Minnesota and from all team activities starting today.

Damn that’s a little harsh… all that for saying USC stands for “University of Sexual Ballers” and that players are all getting in Kim Kardashian?

Garcia Suspended For Getting Wasted

I’m all for partying hard. It’s what you do in college. But even I know there are places you should never go drunk. AA metings. Office hours. Job interviews. Funerals. And in Garcia’s case…it was anywhere Steve Spurrier is. Dude was just suspended last month for getting wasted and having nekkid girls in his hotel room the day before their bowl game.

So what does he do Tuesday night…show up to a mandatory leadership seminar drunk. So drunk in fact that he was asked to leave the event because he was being too loud and disruptive (Garcia later admitted to Spurrier that he’d been drinking prior to the event while celebrating teammate Kyle Nunn’s birthday). There goes suspension number five for Garcia and rumor is he might not come back from this one. [via ESPN]

Stephen Garcia Suspended For Partying

A couple weeks ago we posted a wild rumor we’d heard about South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia…something involving a wild party in his hotel room the night before the Chick-fil-a Bowl with five nekkid girls. Well as crazy as that story was (read the story about the party here), it turns out that it was true!

For today Steve Spurrier has suspended Garcia and fellow QB Andrew Clifford, who is probs his roommate on the road, for the first week of spring practice for a “violation of team rules“…but multiple outlets are reporting that the suspension is related to the Chick-fil-a party. You hear that? That’s the sound of Stephen Garcia’s legend growing even bigger.

Tyshawn Taylor Suspension Rumors

WTF is wrong with Tyshawn Taylor. Dude is like a eight head cases in one. First  gets into a brawl with the football team, then their was the Facebook incident where he announced that he was transferring, now today comes word that he’s been suspended indefinitely for “violating team rules“. So you know what we’re thinking…failed drug test!

And while there’s no official word to support our assumption (being caught in a basketball drug sweep) it’s the only logical explanation as to why minutes after Tyshawn’s suspension for “violating team rules” was announced, women’s basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson announced she’d suspended Marisha Brown indefinitely for the same reason.

KState’s Curtis Kelly Suspended For Being A Chronic Smoker

Weed is good. It relaxes you, it brings people together, but if your an athlete it also can get you suspended…just ask KState’s Curtis Kelly. Kelly had already been suspended earlier this year because coach Frank Martin didn’t like his practice habits or so he said.

Well now Kelly is the subject of an investigationby the school regarding a violation of the student-athlete code and thanks to a little digging by the Kansas City Star we know it was because of a violation of the student-athlete drug and alcohol policy. And if this is his 3rd violation, as many people suspect, he could be kicked off the team.

The Players Ineligible For The Tar Heels

In all 12 players are either suspended or being held out of the big game versus the 21st ranked LSU tomorrow and of those six are defensive starters. And to make matters worst UNC is still waiting to establish the eligibility of three other defensive starters (senior linebacker Quan Sturdivant, senior linebacker Bruce Carter and senior safety Deunta Williams), which means 15 players could possibly be held out of the game and a whopping nine of their eleven defensive starters. Can you say, damnmnnnnn!
