USC Assistant Coach Resigns Amidst Oregon Probe

 

Yesterday USC secondary coach Willie Garza shocked everyone when it was reported that he would be resigning immediately for “personal reasons”, jut days before the Trojans opener on Saturday against Minnesota.

But despite what Garza is giving for his resignation, CBS Sports says sources have told them that his “resignation was a direct result of his involvement with former scout Will Lyles and a related NCAA probe into possible recruiting violations”.

Bruce Pearl To Sell Groceries For A Billionarie

Bruce Pearl is done. Less than a week after the NCAA basically banned the dude from coaching college basketball until 2015, he’s hung up his coaching jacket to sell groceries. That’s right… statement released by Pearl today, he announced that he would be staying in Knoxville and joining HT Hackney as vice president of marketing. WTF!

But don’t act too surprised because this job is probably going to pay Pearl more than the $500,000 a year that he was offered to coach the Texas Legends, the Dallas Mavericks‘ D-League franchise… Forbes magazine ranks HT Hackney as the 82nd largest privately held company in the country with annual revenues of about $4 billion. The NCAA To Punish Bruce Pearl Tomorrow

Just about everyone is reporting that come tomorrow Bruce Pearl will finally be punished for lying to the NCAA investigators and committing a handful of violations… word is Pearl and all of his assistants are expected to be hit with “show cause” penalties, with Pearl receiving a three year sentence while the assistants will get one. Pat Summitt Announces She’s Losing Her Mind

Well ain’t this some sad news. Pat Summitt is only 59 years young, but has recently been diagnosed with an early onset dementia aka Alzheimer’s… which means she’s going to start forgetting everything in no time. But her being the proud lady she says she’s not going to resign from coaching instead she’ll remain head coach of the Lady Vols basketball team.

Bruce Pearl Gets Offered D-Leauge Job

Bruce Pearl is one step closer to becoming the head coach of the Texas Legends of the NDBL. Yesterday it was announced that the second year franchise had offered Pearl a contract valued at more than $500,000, which would make him the highest paid coach in D-League history (the average NDBL coaches’ salary is $80,000).

But even though Texas has offered Pearl a very generous offer, I doubt he’ll be taking it. After all it is the D-League and he can more than that as an ESPN College Basketball Analyst.
