Tom Izzo Give Chris Allen The Boot

This has been a strange week for college basketball. First Coach Cal kicks Darnell Dodson off the team yesterday for reasons unknown and now today comes word from Tom Izzo that he’s giving the boot to senior to be Chris Allen. In a statement to the media Izzo said, “There were multiple obligations that Chris had to meet in order to return for his senior season….he has failed to meet all the obligations.” Damn that’s harsh…don’t these coaches know we’re in the middle of summer? Can a brother get a break!?

Below is Allen’s shockingly nice statement about being dismissed…

Tom Izzo MSU For Life Press Conference

For some reason there are some out there that believe this Tom Izzo press conference was better than Game 6 of the NBA Finals?! I’m obviously one of those that don’t, but hey if you’ve got 30 plus minutes take a look for yourself and leave a comment.

Izzo Staying At Michigan State; LeBron Leaving Cavs

This has just been a week of disappointments. First no Pac 16 now this. In a statement released today Izzo said, “I’m pleased to say I am here for life at Michigan State…Just as I decided to stay home, I hope a 6-8, 270-pound forward in Cleveland decides to stay home.” But what does his not taking the Cavs job say about the chances they have of signing LeBron? Not good.

Izzo was trying to get LeBron on the phone so he could talk to him, but couldn’t even though The King himself said he supported the hire. If LeBron knew for sure he was going to be in Cleveland next season you’d think he’d be doing everything he could in order to get the best coach in there…instead he sat silently as Izzo passed up the opportunity.

LeBron could give a f-ck less who the next coach of the Cavs is, not because he’s just too good and it really doesn’t matter who is coaching him…but because he won’t be there next year.

Tom Izzo Watch: Day 4

Tom Izzo got back from Cleveland on Thursday night. He met with his players on Friday. He was supposed to make his decision on whether he would be leaving Michigan State to coach the Cavs this weekend, only never did. The only thing that happened was that he sent a text message to several new reporters saying, “Still gathering”.

Which is basically means he’s trying to figure out the same thing we’re all trying to figure out…is LeBron James coming back to the Cavs. I doubt Cleveland is going to wait on Izzo until LeBron decides where he’s going to go, he has all summer. So if Izzo is going to take the job he’s going to have to take it not knowing if LeBron will be on the team next year. Too risky for me, even with the $3 million extra dollars a year.

Peace Out: Izzo Considering Cavs Job

Yesterday there were reports that Tom Izzo met with his team to talk to them about the Cavs job opening, but never said anything about leaving. Now comes word today that Izzo “is leaning toward taking the job if it is offered” and this all comes without him knowing if they’re going to resign LeBron or not (unless Izzo knows something that we all don’t).

I really can’t imagine him going to Cavs without LeBron because without they’re going to be New York Knicks bad. Izzo will lose more games in one season with the Cavs than he has in his entire career at Michigan State. But maybe the $6 million a year that he is sure to make in the NBA is too much money for him to turn down. Plus college basketball coaches can always return to the NCAA after failing in the NBA…just ask Pitino and/or Calipari.

The Cavs Made Tom Izzo An Offer

Like every other team college or pro that have have fired their coach this offseason, the Cavs really want Michigan States head coach Tom Izzo. The Cavs want him so bad that they’ve even taken it one step further and according to the News Herald, “they’ve already made him an offer to be their coach”.

Now I will point out that this report has been denied by Adrian Wojnarowski, but he works for Yahoo!Sports so who gives a f-ck what he says. Whether an offer has been made or not, it’s obvious the Cavs are making it known he’s their number one choice as their next head coach, which means an offer is soon to follow.

Izzo Goes To Broadway

Tom Izzo may be a midget, but he is the man. Over 1,800 people came out to see him preform in a broadway type musical based on his life earlier this week.

The hour long musical took fans from a crucial free throw he missed with three seconds to go in a high school basketball game to the six Final Fours he’s experienced at Michigan State…and it was all for a good cause, it helped raised money for arts education programming in West Michigan and MSU student scholarships.
