SEC: Florida RB Jeff Demps once again led the Gators, this time to their first track & field outdoor championship since the 1987. Demps, only a sophomore, won the men’s 100-meter dash with a time of 10.06, the 4th fastest time in school history. While Florida won the men’s title, LSU literally ran away with the women’s title winning it by 93 points.

No surprise here, Allison Stokke didn’t win the Pac-10 Championship in the pole vault nor did she medal. She did however earn 1/2 point for her team, which placed 7th out of 9. And as disappointing of a finish as that was for the Cal Bears team, Stokke’s 8th place finish in the pole vault was even more of a disappointment.

She finished with a vault of 12-06.25, while the winner Katerina Stefanidi of Stanford had a winning vault of 14-00.00. In other news for the 2nd straight season Oregon won both the men’s and women’s Pac-10 titles, with the women’s team winning by over 100 points.

We’re sorry to have to tell you Stokke lovers out there this (not that you care), but Allison Stokke sucks. Well maybe sucks isn’t the right word for it, lets just say she’s not living up to the hype. Little do people know that coming out of high school she was one the best pole vaulters in the nation, becoming one of the only high schoolers to ever jump 13’7.

Now here we are 3 years later and she hasn’t gotten any better. Her career best college vault is 13’9.75, only 3 inches above her high school PR. And this year the highest she’s vaulted is 13’4.25, nowhere near what the top college girls are vaulting and worst than the heights she was jumping when she was a sophomore…in high school.

Jeff Demps is already is the College National Champ in the 60 meters and now he can add the title of the Fastest Human alive right now to that. This weekend he ran the 100 meters in 10.11 seconds, the fastest anybody has run it this year. So while he might not be faster than Usain yet, who still has the world record at 9.58 seconds, he does hold the world’s fastest time right not…Not bad for a football player.

You should remember Jeff Demps as player #2 on the football team, one of the fast ass little guys Tebow has been handing the ball off to in the backfield the last two years. Well in addition to being a RB and one of the fastest players on the football team, he is one of the fastest people in country and a member of Florida’s top ranked track team.

And yesterday his first place finish in the 60 meter dash (finished in 6.57 seconds) was a big reason the Gators were able to take home their first Indoor Track & Field National Championship…with 57 points, beating out Texas A&M and Oregon who finished with 44.

Meanwhile on the women’s side it wasn’t even close. The #1 Oregon team also won their 1st national indoor title with 61 points, blowing out Tennessee (36 points) and LSU (35).
