We’re taking a page out of Busted Coverage with our first ever morning twitpic post featuring a couple of heavy hitters taking class at UCLA. Former UCLA Bruins Kevin Love, Baron Davis and Russell Westbrook all have gone back to school on the Westwood campus this summer… and look who they brought along with them to class yesterday, none other than Mr. P Diddy himself. UCLA basketball player Jerime Anderson was arrested and suspended from the team last week for jacking someone’s laptop and now sadly his mistake is affecting his partying. You see Anderson was all set to host the “I LOVE COLLEGE!!! ATHLETES PARTY” August 5th at The Proud Bird (a bar near Los Angeles International Airport) and now because of his arrest he’s had to cancel his appearance… I say sadly because as you can see from the promo video above it looked like the party was about to be poppin’. Date Arrested: July 26, 2011
Police Report: Anderson was arrested Tuesday evening on campus by police after a tracking device on the MacBook Pro (valued at $1,541) helped its owner lead police to him. Anderson was later booked at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station and released on $20,000 bail… and has been suspended for at least the season opener and barred from all team activities.

I don’t see now this isn’t a violation or something. This offseason UCLA hired Korey McCray, who had been the coach of the AAU team the Atlanta Celtics for years, as their new assistant coach… and now just a couple months later the new hire is already paying off.
Small forward Jordan Adams, a top 100 player from the Class of 2012, who wasn’t even on the Bruins radar announced Monday that he would be following his coach to Westwood. And thats nothing… the Bruins are also expected to sign the #13 prospect in country Shaquille Goodwin, who also plays for the Atlanta Celtics during the summer.

UCLA is struggling right now. Tyler Honeycutt is entering the draft. Malcolm Lee is going too. And on the recruiting front the Bruins have got no diaper dandies coming in. They’re just not pulling in the caliber of recruit that they were in Howland’s first few years when he was getting top 100 players Kevin Love, Westbrook, Jordan Farmar, Darren Collison…the only half decent players the Bruins have been able to recruit lately is UNC defects (The Wear Twins and Larry Drew) and JUCO players.
Since when did UCLA start recruiting transfers? As the most successful college basketball program in history, they’re supposed to be getting McDonald’s All-American’s. Well apparently Ben Howland also knows recruiting is a problem because word is he’s on the verge of replacing assistant Scott Duncan (who left to become an assistant at Wyoming) with Korey McCray…the head of the Atlanta Celtics AAU basketball team that NBA’ers Dwight Howard, John Wall, Josh Smith, and Derrick Favors all played for coming up.
