Mallory Husz is what you call a 5★star athlete. She’s the total package. She was a three time player of the year in basketball back in HS. Got a scholarship to play volley at Iowa. Now she’s a junior and the teams starting middle blocker. And the cherry on top…she’s a legit 10 in the looks department and from what I hear single. We’ll have more on her later.

According to the 2010 Sports Participation in America survey, the number of people ages six and over who participated in sand volleyball increased by 7.3 percent between 2008 and 2009. The 7.3 percent increase represented over 300,000 new participants.

Making sand volleyball and softball the only team sports to gain over 300,000 participants. In fact, of the 23 team sports tracked by the SGMA, 16, including the largest sports baseball, basketball, football and soccer, all showed declines in participation.

Alright this is the last college athlete that we’re going to post from the class of 2010 and she just might be our hottest. Might. You’ll have to wait until Monday when we’ll be posting our official Top 10 Hottest College Athletes from the Class of 2010 List to see who #1 is.

Little known to you college fall sports officially kicks off today with women’s soccer. Odds are that your school will be playing at some point over the next three days…not that you’d care unless you’ve got a girlfriend on the soccer team. Next weekend women’s volleyball and field hockey (which is a very underrated women’s sports as far as having hot players go) start up. Then finally the following week the rest of the sports get going including cross country, men’s soccer, men’s water polo, and most importantly football get going.

So yeah we’re about to start being real busy starting in September. So if you’re looking for news on your favorite sport make sure you use the tabs above because we’re going to start cranking out 15-20 stories a day coming up here soon. That is all for now.

BYU has told Shawn Patchell, the men’s volleyball coach of the past four years, to take a hike aka they fired his ass. The ousting, which is effective immediately, comes in the midst of an investigation by the school into NCAA violations that Patchell had been committing as head coach. Sources say the violations have something to do with “the distribution of scholarship money“. I don’t know what that means, but it sure sounds shady.

Penn State’s Women’s Volleyball team has been ranked number one in the nation since the Fall of 2007. When you think about it they’re kind of like the UConn Women’s basketball team, they just kick everyone’s ass…to the tune of three straight national titles and a record 102 matches in a row won.  So when the AVCA preseason rankings came out yesterday it wasn’t a surprise that they were ranked #1 in polls.

The Nittany Lions are followed in the polls by #2 Nebraska who received 16 first place votes to Penn State’s 40 and the national runner-up last year #3 ranked Texas. But it’s once again the Pac 10 who dominates the Top 25 with seven ranked teams, the highest being Stanford at four. Sidenote: Hawaii is ranked fifth. The complete top 25 here.

Talk about a real life Beauty and the Beast. But at least now maybe if this post gets some love Tyus won’t be internationally known for looking like the Predator, but instead he’ll be that one Florida baller who married one of the girls on the FratHouseSports Hottest College Athletes in the Class of 2010 List. FYI: the hottest athlete of 2010 is coming up on Friday.
