Another Wake Forest Baller Leaves The Program

It’s been a tough first 18 months on the job for Wake Forest head basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik… so far four plater have left the program for a variety of reasons. Tony Woods was kicked off the team last April for beating his girlfriend, then Ari Stewart decided to transfer to USC, then Melvin Tabb was booted after being arrested on breaking and entering and fraud charges, and then Ty Walker will be suspended until December 10th for violating the schools student code of conduct.

And now today comes word that JT Terrell, the team’s second-leading scorer as a freshman last season, is resigning from the basketball team after being arrested for driving while impaired… after police found him passed out behind the wheel of his car with the engine running early Saturday morning. Don’t look now, but it’s looking like the Deamon Deacons have another losing season coming up. [via]

Wake Forest Coach Saves Players Life

This is the kind of stuff that just warms my heart. When Wake Forest freshman baseball player Kevin Jordan needed a kidney transplant after being diagnosed with ANCA vasculitis, it was his coach Tom Walter who stepped up to the plate and donated his.

I wonder if this is considered a recruiting violation? But seriously if Wake ends up winning the College World Series, Jordan and Walter could parlay this into a Lifetime movie.

How the player and coach are donig below…

Movie Trailer: The 5th Quarter

I do not remember this story happening, but it must have been a big deal because someone decided to turn the tragic story of Wake Forest football player Jon Abbate into a feature film set to be released on March 11th. And if you’re totally clueless as to WTF The 5th Quarter is….we have the synopsis and trailer for you below.

A Salute To Wake Forest Girls Soccer

The women’s soccer tournament gets started back up tomorrow with eight games on the schedule, but today we’re not talking about that because we’ll be posting a recap of the Sweet 16 action on Sunday once it gets all done…today we wanted to say hello to one of Wake Forest’s coaches, graduate assistant Kaley Fountain (pic’d above on the right) and so long to a senior team Bianca D’Agostino whose career is sadly over after Wake was upset in the second round by UCI this past Sunday. We salute you!

Wife Beater News: Wake Forest Tony Woods

The justice system gave Wake Forest center Tony Woods a break by allowing him to plead guilty to one misdemeanor charge and only serve 60-days in jail, instead of facing three misdemeanors for beating up his girlfriend and breaking her spine.

Wake Forest however will not be as kind to him. It was announced yesterday that Woods had been granted his release by the school so he could “pursue other options“. Which is basically means they kicked his ass to the curb. I doubt we’ll be hearing from him again.

Wake Forest Player Gets Community Service For Breaking Girlfriends Spine

Back on Labor Day 6’11 250 pound Wake Forest center Tony Woods pushed and kicked his live in girlfriend causing her to have a lumbar fracture to her spine (which hurts like a mofo). Originally Woods was charged with three misdemeanors: assault inflicting serious injury, assault on a female and assault inflicting serious injury in the presence of a child.

Fast forward to yesterday where after a guilty plea to one of the charges, Woods is getting a slap on the wrist from the judge. She’s dismissing two charges and only giving him 60-days jail and 100 hours of community service. Shit Lindsay Lohan got more time than that for being a drugie, surely a wife beater deserves more of a punishment than that? I guess it’ll be up to Wake Forest 1st year coach Jeff Bzdelik to punish him, but will he…

D-One Sports Highlights: The Best HS Basketball Team Of All Time

This team basically had a who is who of college basketball diaper dandies. John Wall, class of 2009, Kentucky, #1 draft pick. Ryan Kelly, class of 2009, played at Duke this season. JT Terrell, class of 2010, top 50 recruit, going to Wake Forest next year. Quincy Miller, class of 2011, top 10 recruit. And that’s just to name a few.
