The South Carolina football program has officially given TE Weslye Saunders the boot. After months being investigated by the NCAA for taking an all expenses paid trip to South Beach and then staying at a downtown Columbia hotel for next to nothing, South Carolina finally realized there was no way the NCAA wasn’t going to rule that he’d received extra benefits thus making him ineligible…so they dismissed him.

I wonder how long it’ll be before the UNC Athletic Department issues of similuar statement announcing the dismissals of like 10 Tar Heel players?

UPDATE: Word is that Saunders was suspended is because he missed a team meeting and was late to practice on Saturday then lied and said it was because he was meeting with NCAA investigators.

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything about the NCAA’s investigation of the South Beach Bunch, the group of college football players that are being investigated for alledgely breaking NCAA rules by having someone pay for their travel and hotel to attend 49ers RB Frank Gore South Beach party this past Memorial Day….then tonight, boom!

The Washington Post is reporting tonight that South Carolina TE Weslye Saunders has been suspended indefinately by coach Steve Spurrier for violating team rules. Now Spurrier has stressed that “[Saunders] was suspended for a violation of team rules and it that has nothing to do with the NCAA.”…but we all know that’s a bunch of bullcrap.

You know how the saying goes, if you dig long enough your bound to turn up some dirt (or did I just make that up…either way that shit is tight). And the news out of Columbia is that NCAA wasn’t just out their questioning Weslye Saunders about the South Beach Party, they’ve widened the scope of the investigation and are looking into new possible violations.

According to The State the NCAA has been grilling Saunders, offensive tackle Jarriel King and defensive tackle Travian Robertson about their questionable living arrangements.

Isn’t this some shit…there have been more college sports violations and investigations than college athlete arrest this month. I never thought I’d see the day. And to compound things now the investigators are doubling up players and schools.

Last week NCAA investigators returned to Chapel Hill to pay Marvin Austin and Company a visit and now the news today is that they’ll be in South Carolina as early as today to speak with Tight End Weslye Saunders about his South Beach trip for the second time in less than a month. They’re relentless, these NCAA investigators are.

But unlike Austin, Saunders shouldn’t have much to worry about…even if he did let someone to pay for his South Beach trip, the NCAA will most likely just suspended him for a couple of games and make him pay back the money he received.

I figure I might as well squeeze a Weslye Saunders Holyshit Highlight in while I can because he might not even be playing this season the NCAA finds out that he went to the South Beach party on somebody else’s dime like everyone suspects.

So here goes just about the only good highlight we could find of him, going up over the 7th ick in this years draft Joe Haden to grab the TD like he was a WR…and I think he gets two feet in too. What a pro! No wonder he is hands down the #1 TE in college.

Shockingly, I don’t think we’ve talked South Beach Player/Agent Party fiasco thats had NCAA investigators running around the country the past few weeks interviewing players from UNC, South Carolina, Alabama, UGA and Pitt to see if any rules were broken.

Well yesterday the investigators are still trying to get to bottom of things and were back where the whole investigation started over three weeks ago…in Chapel Hill interviewing the two prime suspects, DT Marvin Austin and WR Greg Little once again.
