TCU To The Big East Rumors Heat Up

Monday we told you about the rumor that said the Big East was targeting TCU for a possible expansion, calling them “a very attractive candidate”. Then yesterday TCU’s AD came out with a statement where he plead the 5th saying, “TCU is a proud member of the Mountain West Conference”, but never confirming nor denying the rumor.

Well today we have confirmation that something is going on between the two on the low. The Dallas Morning News is reporting that within the past 30 days officials from the Big East and TCU have indeed met and discussed the Horned Frogs joining the conference in either the 2011 or 2012 season. If you ask me I think TCU is trying to run from Boise State.

With Boise State, Nevada, and Fresno State all joining the MWC in the next two years it’s going to be that much harder for the Horned Frogs to get the automatic BCS bid, if and when the MWC. It pains me to say this, but a move to the Big East would mean an easier road a BCS game for TCU than if they stayed in the MWC.

TCU AD Chris Del Conte couldn’t be reached for comment about this newest report…he is off with the commissioner of the MWC meeting about TV contracts (I’m sure they’re having some interesting convos right about now though). And TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson says he knows nothing of the talks.

One Response to “TCU To The Big East Rumors Heat Up”

  1. TCU is trying to force the hand of the Big 12…either add us or the Big East is coming to recruit heaven. The Big 12 could add TCU and SMU, return Okie State and OU to the North and end all this shit right now.
