The Cam Newton $180,000 Payment Story Is Total Bullshit And Yes Race Is An Issue

UPDATE: TMZ is reporting that the FBI wants to talk to John Bond…hopefully they expose him and his three sources
Bottom line the story isn’t true. Kenny Rogers new asked this John Bond dude for $180,000 in exchange for Cam Newton to go to Mississippi State. Instead Rogers heard from a guy, who heard from another guy, who heard a guy say that he heard Rogers was trying to get a payment for Newton from Mississippi State and other schools….take a second to read that again because I know it’s confusing.
So basically this whole “story” is based on Bond (a Mississippi State booster) hearing a fourth hand rumor that was being spread around by his old ass Mississippi State alumni buddies and ex-players, who all have to be pissed that Cam chose Auburn over Mississippi State. If that’s not bullshit, then what do you call that?!
ESPN should be ashamed. The NY Times should be ashamed. Urban Meyer should be ashamed. Bond gave the radio interview last Friday where he admitted to never speaking to Kenny Rogers directly…yet there has been no retraction from any of the other major news outlets who all stated Bond was “contacted” by Rogers.
This would have never happened to Tim Tebow. I hate to do it, but I’ve got to pull the race card on this one. Would this rumor, now knowing how it started and where it come from, have been picked up if the player was say Kellen Moore or Andy Dalton? H/T TBL

What is with your irrational hatred of Urban Meyer in this story thread? He hasn’t done anything associated with the story.
What does UF have to gain by a DQ of Cam Newton and/or Auburn? Nothing. You want to point fingers?
Point fingers at Nick Saban. The guy is scum (look at his track record). And guess who goes to the SEC Title game and maybe the National Championship if Auburn is DQ’ed? Bama.
Bama stands everything to gain in this situation. Florida stands nothing to gain. Meyer has nothing to do with this. If I had to lay money on who’s behind it, I’d point to disgruntled Miss St boosters, or to Little Nicky Saban.
Love your site, usually love your stories, but the unjustified hating on Meyer has got me close to saying goodbye to FratHouseSports.
Looks like whomever wrote this initial article was WRONG! Cecil Newton did in fact ask for money and the NCAA is too chickenshit to do anything about it.
