Elite8: Top College Sports Towns

When I think of a college town, I think of going out on Saturday night after the game and seeing the streets packed with hundreds of people going from apartment parties to bars and back again. So the most important things to look for when ranking a college town has to be the nightlife, girls, and average price of drinks.
But apparently when the stuck up people at Forbes think of a college town they are thinking home prices and how safe the community is. Lame! But I guess that’s what some people are looking for in a college town so see their list below.
#1 Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) – Ann Arbor tops the list for the 2nd year in a row. The median price for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom, 2,200 square-foot home is $148,000. The town is rife with museums. And the “Big House,” the 106,201 capacity football stadium (2nd largest in the world), still rocks every Saturday despite the recent football struggles.
#2 UNC (Chapel Hill, NC) – The basketball team may be struggling this year, but this point on the Research Triangle is a great place to live, with good music and restaurants.
#3 Oklahoma (Norman, OK) – The median price for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom, 2,200-square-foot home is an affordable $204,475. Random fact: Norman is also home to an incredible collection of French Impressionist paintings.
#4 Stanford (Palo Alto, CA) – This high-tech hub has some of the best schools in the country. The median home price is high ($1.5 million), but chances are if you’re considering Palo Alto, you already have the dough.
